Conversations with Dean James Glaser

James M. Glaser is a professor of political science and dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to becoming dean, he served as dean of academic affairs for Arts and Sciences, dean of undergraduate education for Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, and chair of the political science department. As dean, Jim works with faculty and staff to improve faculty governance; to develop and revise the curriculum; to support the design and building of new facilities; to fulfill the school’s commitment to diversity; and to enhance the research profile of the school.

Dean Glaser received his B.A. from Stanford University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. The author of several award-winning books, his most recent book is Changing Minds, if Not Hearts: Political Remedies to Racial Issues (2013, University of Pennsylvania Press), which he coauthored with Timothy J. Ryan.
