Fan the Fire: Spirit, Sports, Serviceis a new celebration of Jumbo pride and the dedication to active citizenship we all share here at Tufts. At the fifth Fan the Fire event on Saturday, March 31st, students, alumni, and their families will flock to Bello Field and Spicer Field to cheer on the women’s softball and lacrosse teams as they face Bowdoin and Trinity.
The event is being co-sponsored by Level the Field, an organization run through the Athletic Department. The Level The Field program provides middle school students in the East Somerville neighborhood a unique opportunity to work with high- achieving collegiate student-athletes on various varsity teams at Tufts. Level The Field works to foster communication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership through the platform of sports. These values are developed through intercollegiate athletic contest, sports clinics, and classroom instruction. A kickball game between Level the Field students and Tufts athletes will be taking place during the afternoon.
Come out to cheer for not only the teams, but also for a worthy cause supported by Tufts athletes. Fan the Fire tshirts will be given away, and prizes will be given randomly to those wearing the shirts at the event. Come enjoy a wonderful afternoon of fun and prizes!
