Description
Tufts Gordon Institute alumni are invited to visit Harvard’s Center for Nanoscale Systems and see how more than 60 companies – including Tufts, MIT, and Harvard start-ups – are making use of 24 hour laboratories for product development. Harvard’s CNS serves a community of more than 1,100 researchers in the areas of nanofabrication (cleanroom), materials development, and imaging. Strong research themes of the multi-disciplinary laboratories include photovoltaics, microfluidics, point-of-care diagnostics, bio-inspired engineering, energy storage, novel oxides, spintronics, graphene, nano-catalysts, lasers, and bio-materials characterization.
Visitors will learn how start-ups preserve capital through use of pay-for-service laboratory access, and how their intellectual property is protected in a multi-user environment. The role of web-accessed enterprise automation will be discussed for both client management and back-end activities.
