Description
The Tufts University School of Engineering and New York Tufts Alliance invite all members of the Tufts community to attend a cocktail networking reception followed by presentations on green technology and alternative energy.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Tufts, Jim Stern, E72, will discuss the strategic direction of Tufts and Tufts Engineering. Mr. Stern will also be taking general questions about Tufts.
More information about Mr. Stern.
Attendees will also see a presentation by Timothy Lannin, E11, a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Timothy has taught a course in the Experimental College at Tufts entitled “Modeling Alternative Energy: Engineering for Non-engineers.” In addition, in a project sponsored by LEGO, Timothy has built a model city made of LEGOs to explore renewable energy uses. He will share these experiences and explain how Tufts research is exploring the future of green power.
Aleksandar Stanković the first Howell Professor in Electrical Engineering will also speak at this event.
Dr. Stanković joins Tufts from his position at Northeastern University where he held the title of Distinguished Professor of Engineering and Distinguished Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Stanković’s research interests include analytical and experimental work involving modeling, control, and estimation in electric energy processing for power electronics, power systems, and electric drives. His work uses electronics to efficiently condition energy sources for practical uses.
Dr. Stanković received an NSF CAREER Award in 1995 and the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award in 1997. He was named a Distinguished Research Fellow at Northeastern in 2004, and a Fellow of the IEEE in 2005. Dr. Stanković is the author of more than 200 refereed journal and conference papers, and is the holder of seven patents.
