Description
On November 1st, the ING New York City Marathon will host 40,000 competitors from around the world. Running this very race was the inspiration for journalist and author, Kimi Puntillo, to become the first woman to run marathons on 7 continents and be cited in the Guinness Book of World Records. After a pasta dinner at a quaint Italian restaurant, see spectacular pictures of runners scaling glaciers in Antarctica and trekking to the starting line, at 17,007 feet, for the Mount Everest Marathon. There's even a race in France, where runners were served wine every three miles.
Kimi will share her love of adventure travel and favorite courses feature in her new book, Great Races, Incredible Places - 100+ Fantastic Runs Around the World. Races range from 3.1 milers to ultramarathons, located everywhere from the Great Wall of China to Vermont’s covered bridges, accommodating both experienced and novice runners. Whether you’re training for the NYC Marathon or you're just a casual Sunday morning jogger, Kimi will entertain you with her tales of once-in-a-lifetime journeys. Her articles and interviews have appeared in Forbes, the New York Times, National Geographic, Running Times, and Fitness Magazine.
A networking cocktail hour including Tufts alumni in the media will precede the dinner.
