Description
The Revels Repertory Company, in cooperation with the Tufts University Office of Alumni Relations, presents an original musical production, "There's a Meeting Here Tonight". The show is based on the story of the Hutchinson Family Singers, the most famous traveling singing troupe of the 19th century. With P.T. Barnum, the great showman and founding trustee of Tufts College, as the master of ceremonies the Hutchinson family sing about the important issues of their day, including emancipation, suffrage and temperance.
The stage production includes ballads, folk songs, stories, dances, and party games performed by Revels Repertory Company’s costumed ensemble of 40 adults and children and guest instrumentalists. The program is appropriate for adults and children age six and up. The performance is general admission.
The performance will be preceded by a free pre-show talk in Alumnae Lounge at 7 pm.
