Description
Tufts Alumni San Diego invites you to join us for a special event with author Marlen Bodden, J83. Her new book, The Wedding Gift, tells a moving story of slavery and family, based on a 19th century Alabama court case. “The Wedding Gift draws readers into the complex world of American slavery and provides an unflinching account of the tactics used to control women, slave and free… The controversial and shocking ending is sure to leave readers aghast.”
Bodden is a lawyer in New York City, and has represented many poor and immigrant workers. Her experiences of modern human rights abuses inspired much of her writing.
Please join fellow Tufts alumni at Cafe Bassam to hear a brief reading of Bodden’s novel, participate in a question and answer session, and socialize with friends new and old. All guests will receive a copy of The Wedding Gift, which Bodden will be available to sign. Light refreshments from the cafe will be provided.
