Description

The Real Scoop for Caring Animal Lovers

Join us at this special event open to our community of alumni, friends, supporters and animal lovers. Dr. Lisa Freeman’s advice can help any nutrition conscious pet owner make more informed dietary choices in the pet food aisle. Hear about her recently published research revealing a wide variation of calorie content in a broad range of commercially available “low calorie” pet foods. At the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Freeman teaches nutrition for veterinary students and also takes care of patients that require specialized nutrition while hospitalized or dietary modification to help manage medical problems. Her research focus is on the nutritional modulation of cardiac disease in dogs and cats.

A proud Tufts alumna, Dr. Freeman returns to speak on the Medford/Somerville campus where she completed her undergraduate degree (J86). She then went on to obtain her DVM degree at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine (V91), and received a PhD in Nutrition from Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy (N96). After a residency in Clinical Nutrition, she was board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Nutrition. She has been on faculty at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine since 1996, where she is currently a professor in the department of Clinical Sciences.

Light refreshments will be served.
