Volunteer Story, Megan Carter, A08

Megan Carter, A08

Current occupation: Management Consultant for Non-Profits

Volunteer experience at Tufts:
As a student, serving as a mentor for young girls through LCS. As an alumna, working with the Active Citizens of Tufts (ACT) Boston.

Most memorable volunteer experience:
Participating in the Susan G. Komen Run/Walk for the Cure. It sounds cheesy, but it was so amazing to see so many people out there for the cause. I’ve never seen a more enthusiastic bunch! Good spirit really does make a difference.

Why volunteer?
The people! While I love to volunteer for events I’m interested in and would normally do, it makes it so much better to volunteer with fellow Tufts alumni. I’ve made some wonderful new friends that I didn’t know in school, and we always have a blast. It’s always a volunteer and social event rolled into one!

If you could relive any day of your life as a Tufts student, which day would it be and why?
I would relive the entire first year—and do things very differently! I would have jumped in more wholeheartedly, done more, and tried to meet more people. I don’t think I started to take advantage of all Tufts has to offer early enough, so I’m glad that many opportunities still exist for alumni!
