Korean alumni ring in holidays

January 18, 2013

On December 19, more than 60 members of the Korean Tufts Alumni community gathered at the Seoul Club for the annual holiday party. The event was a tribute to the Jumbo spirit abroad, says event organizer Chunghoon Min, A85, and was “one of the best attended Tufts events in Seoul.”

Min believes attendance was high because organizers contacted alumni via Facebook and email. The use of social media attracted Jumbos from all age groups, he says.

Korean Alumni chapter leader Daniel Han, A11, and other volunteers also used technology to organize video messages of welcome and happy holidays by President Monaco and Fletcher professor of Korean Studies Sung-Yoon Lee, F94.

The party also included speeches by attendees and a buffet-style meal. The event was particularly meaningful, says Han, because it took place on the Korean Presidential Election Day.
