Green Jumbos network and learn at Environmental Career Night
March 12, 2013
On February 25, students and alumni attended the Tufts Environmental Alumni (TEA) Career Night on the Medford-Somerville campus. Seventy Jumbos came out to exchange expert information about the field, make connections with future, like-minded environmentalists, and swap stories from their post-Tufts lives.
The centerpiece of the event was a career panel of Tufts alumni currently in the environmental field. From forward-thinking partnerships to traditional initiatives, the careers of the alumni on the panel offered a wide spectrum of insider information and experiences.

In addition to Alison Simcox, AG98, who works for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the panel included individuals who work with companies to help them meet EPA requirements, like Dr. Susan Santos, EG81, who founded environmental consulting firm Focus Group.
TEA steering committee member Mark Taitz, A71, believes, “the students benefitted substantially from listening to real-world experiences.” That networking, with students and fellow alumni, is Taitz’s favorite part of a Tufts event: for the connections, the common interests, and the chance to help a fellow Jumbo find a good or new footing in the field.
The evening wrapped up with a Q&A session, followed by some time to socialize.
