Join the Tufts Alumni Virtual Book Club!

July 14, 2017

After the 2016 Presidential Election, renewed attention has been given to the overlooked working class families in Appalachia.

Join the Tufts Alumni Virtual Book Club in reading and discussing Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by JD Vance. This memoir follows the author’s journey from a low-income childhood in Appalachia to joining the middle class as an Ivy-League graduate. Vance uses his personal experience to examine what happens culturally, socially, and regionally when a family living in a declining region ‘makes it.’

The book club is sponsored by the Tufts University Alumni Association and the Tufts Office of Alumni Relations and will take place from October 2 – 31.
