How to Vote

Look in your inbox for an email about the election with your direct link to the ballot. No need to log in or remember a password!

If you do not receive an email with a link to the ballot, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@tufts.edu or 1-800-THE-ALUM (800-843-2586).

As a Tufts graduate, you are a member of the Tufts University Alumni Association. Help shape the future of Tufts by voting for Alumni Trustees and Alumni Council members.

Alumni Trustees

The Tufts University Board of Trustees has 40 members, of whom 10 are Alumni Trustees elected by alumni. The Board of Trustees is the managing authority of the university and makes critical decisions on budgets, academic affairs, tuition, faculty and buildings and services impacting all three campuses and all seven schools.

Alumni Council Members

Council members are alumni leaders elected by their peers. They organize a number of programs to benefit the more than 100,000 Tufts alumni, including career services, reunions, continuing education, regional activities, alumni awards and the nomination of candidates for the university’s Board of Trustees and the Alumni Council itself.

The Elections

Announcement of the Elections
The elections will be announced to all alumni for whom we have email addresses in the February 2016 alumni e-newsletter, which will go in mid-February. The announcement will provide a link to the section of the alumni website featuring the bios and statements of all the candidates and providing other election-related information. The alumni website home page also features an announcement of the elections. Alumni will not be able to vote at or through this website.

Voting Online
Alumni will be able to vote online when they receive an email with a personalized link to the ballot on Monday, February 22. With this link, they will be directed to the ballot and will be able to vote for candidates for Tufts University Board of Trustees and the Tufts Alumni Council without having to log in or enter a password.

Please note that alumni will only be able to vote electronically through the link to the ballot provided in the email which they directly receive. Each alum will be provided with a personalized link in order to ensure security and to prevent each alum from voting more than once.

Reminders to Vote Online
During the voting period, alumni who have not voted will periodically receive email reminders with personalized links to the ballot.

Alumni Without Email Addresses in the Tufts Database
If an alum does not have a functioning email in the Tufts database, he or she will not receive an email with a personalized link to the ballot and will therefore be unable to vote electronically. These alumni can contact the Office of Alumni Relations at Tufts by email at alumni@tufts.edu or by phone at 1-800-THE-ALUM.

Voting by Paper Ballot
In our ongoing efforts to be both cost-efficient and environmentally friendly, we encourage you to vote online. If you would prefer a paper ballot, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations by email at alumni@tufts.edu or by phone at 1-800-THE-ALUM. All paper ballots must be postmarked by April 5, 2016 in order to be counted.

Voting Deadline
The deadline for voting is Tuesday, April 5, 2016, and the results of the 2016 Alumni Elections will be announced in early May.
